Caffeine Fixed in a Different Way

It’s hard to believe that I am already six weeks into my PR program at school. With midterms, projects and presentations taking over, there is only one thing keeping me going – coffee.

Baristas are artists too.

With early morning commutes on the subway, to late night group discussions, it is easy to see why PR is one of the most caffeinated professions in the world.

Nowadays I grab a coffee and go, but in Korea I used to get my caffeine fix in some pretty interesting ways.

Dress Cafes

While sipping on my latte, I would be presented a series of albums with dresses available in the cafe’s closet. The dresses would range from dramatic costume ball gowns to traditional Korean hanboks.

Green tea lattes, and too many options.

After I was done my coffee, it was time for the real fun to begin. I would dress up, get accessorized, and be set free in the cafe to take as many pictures as my heart desired.

If you ever visit Korea, be sure to make this pose and say “bwing-bwing” – apparently it’s cute.

I have to say I truly miss a photo shoot following my weekend coffee.

Cat Cafes

Living abroad, I missed my family and friends, but I also really missed my dog. Sometimes instead of a book to accompany my coffee, I would venture off to a cafe for the company of a furry friend.

This little girl does not look amused by the cats taking over the cafe.

Cat cafes allowed me to play with cats, and enjoy my coffee all at once.

 My new friend.

Despite the fact that I am extremely allergic to cats, I couldn’t stay away from this ritual. Cats and coffee just became natural.

Themes

As a teacher, and now a PR professional in the making, there is nothing I love more than a good theme.

This is pure happiness on my face. Latte art perfected (in my eyes).

If I didn’t feel like getting dressed up, or playing with cats, I always had the option of being surrounded by the next best thing – Hello Kitty.

Straight, fresh and warm friendship can be found at the Hello Kitty Cafe.

Choose any theme, and chances are Korea already has a cafe dedicated to it.

Even Charlie Brown needs coffee.

Until Canadians find it necessary for props, pets and themes to come with  coffee, I suppose the occasional Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks will do just fine.

What keeps you running during a busy week?
